Segen Asfaha - Founder & Executive Director
Segen graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Africana Studies and earned her Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Health Promotion, Education, and Evaluation from Claremont Graduate University in Los Angeles. Her public health training has strengthened her leadership and ability to design community programs rooted in evidence-based education and empowerment. She is passionate about building equitable systems of care and has a strong background in leadership and community engagement. Segen also founded the Minority Association for Premedical Students (MAPS) at the University of Arizona and now applies that same passion for mentorship and advocacy through her nonprofit work, creating programs that uplift and support women and families in need.
Dr. Caitlin Lee - Executive Board Member
Dr. Lee is a seasoned clinician and board certified Family Medicine physician. She is the former Director of Women’s Health at St. Vincent de Paul Free Medical Clinic and is the current Medical Director of Health Equity and Quality at Wesley Community & Health Centers. Dr. Lee has years of experience working with underserved populations.
Dr. Tanisha Price-Johnson - Executive Board Member
Dr. Johnson earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Arizona and brings over 20 years of experience in the field. She currently serves as the Associate Dean of Admissions at Arizona State University’s new John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering. Previously, she was the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and a Clinical Associate Professor of Medical Education at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and the former associate dean of student affairs at the University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine. In addition to her academic leadership, Dr. Johnson serves on the Board of the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona and is an active member of the AAMC Group on Student Affairs Holistic Student Affairs Committee. She is a dedicated and inspiring advocate for student success and equity in medical education.
Dr. Tatiana Jerome - Executive Board Member
Dr. Jerome is currently a resident physician of Pediatrics here in Phoenix. She graduated from the University of Arizona School of Medicine and is a member of the Student National Medical Association. She is passionate about children, family and global health.
Alicia Belony - Social Media Manager
Alicia graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a bachelor’s in Biology. With faculty, she conducted lab research in the Department of Biological Sciences. She is now a biology teacher and content creator across many social media platforms. She specializes in lifestyle and motivational content.
Melody Parra - Brand Manager
Melody is a digital creator and brand designer that graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Design Studies. She has 7+ years of graphic design and marketing experience. She is a creative that is skilled in Creative Cloud software such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. She is also the Owner of Mepa Digital LLC, a branding a social media company that has created all of PBI’s logos!
